“Ni” is simply a syllable in the Japanese language which grammatically shows location or place. I thought this sign was pretty cool and made for an interesting shot.

I was in extremely tight quarters here so I had no choice but to chop off all sides of this photo. I thought it worked though as even in regular framing, there was no coherent design or message. Thus I shot this with more of a texture style.

Sunflower Summer Breeze

Sunflower Summer Breeze depicts the contrast of the blue sky and the yellow sunflower. The sunflower here is showing it’s age a bit with the slightly curled petals, but I think that adds a bit of character and dimension to the flower. Despite the aging, the suflower still stands tall.

This is an old Banner that had a tint of red which I found interesting. I particularly liked the blurred or faded black Japanese Kanji characters on the left. For some reason this flag gives off a sense of history. Fun shot.

Japanese Temples in Zenkoji

Zenkoji Temple has some pretty amazing temples. They are very large and full of detail. This video shows a couple of the the temples that are quite popular for visitors all year round. I visit this place often and even entered them when my two kids were born for a private ceremony that I was fortunate to have. You have to pay a fee for this, but to have the experience was incredible. During the Obon holidays this week, you see many orange and white lanterns that luminate the evening when lots of obon visitors pack the Zenkoji temple grounds. It was extremely hot today and few minutes ago it’s starting pouring cats and dogs. This is a short video clip of heavy rain outside my studio in Japan during the flash storm. The video was taken with the Creative Vado HD portable camera.

This is a closeup shot of a Japanese Kanji character engraved in stone. The photo was shot with a Nikon DSLR and 105mm Macro Lens. The image was then post processed in Photoshop for desired look. I’m a big fan of digital art and grunge being originally from Seattle, so I like this look very much.
